Restoring the First Watch With a GMT Function, and Boy Does it Need a Lot of Work!
Marshall wins an eBay auction for a sweet vintage watch to restore, a Glycine Airman pilot's watch from (probably) the 1960s! It had the tantalizing phrase, "For parts or repair" on it, and boy did this one need both parts and a repairs... Join Marshall as he restores another vintage watch here on Wristwatch Revival!

Restoring a Vietnam-Era Military Watch I Purchased on eBay as "For Parts or Repair"
Переглядів 230 тис.Місяць тому
Marshall restores another vintage watch, this time it's a 1960s military watch that was probably used in Vietnam. He picked it up off of eBay as a "for parts or repair" project, and sure enough it won't run at all. Plus the hands have degraded significantly, so it's quite a project! Restoring a Ford Mustang Novelty Vintage Watch with a Very Strange Issue
Переглядів 223 тис.Місяць тому
Marshall restores another vintage watch! This time it's a quirky novelty watch based on a Ford Mustang steering wheel. These watches have a lot of character and are a lot of fun, but they used low grade movements in them which make them very difficult to restore. Marshall has to find out why the watch hands spin freely, and then get the thing serviced. It's quite an adventure! Support Wristwatc...

This watch was on the wrist of a beloved father and husband for 30 years, and when his son inherited it he wanted to have it restored so he could enjoy it himself. None of the local jewelers would even take the job on, and that's when Marshall comes in to take on the project. Su...

Tudor is a sub-brand of Rolex, and it often has similar quality for a cheaper price, but it's also been around for a long time and has quite a pedigree itself! Just a fun fact, way late, in case anyone cares: In electroplating the negative lead is always the anode and the positive is the cathode. When plating the Cathode is attached to the part being processed and the Anode is attached to whatever metal is being used to conduct to the negative terminal. When stripping it is just the opposite, The part is the anode.

I know what you mean about little springs flying away too. I work on a lot of hydraulic and pnuematic installations and opening up some of the valves is a lottery. Some are fine, others have tiny springs that you can't see on the drawings and they fly off into the depths of the factory as soon as the cover is lifted. That's when the customer is paying for one more valve than they thought they were.

I looked up a Helicoil drill chart and they go down to M2 x 0.4mm in their thread repair kits, that might be small enough. Hard to tell if those screws are 1 or 2mm diameter on a computer screen. Helicoil has UNF kits too, if that watch is imperial.
